Brian Michael Schafer Obituary : Remembering My Brother

Brian Schafer Obituary
My brother and I in the past year.  RIP Brian Michael Schafer
A newspaper obituary just will not do.  It saddens me to report that Brian Michael Schafer, of Hanover PA and formerly Baltimore County Maryland passed away after a heart attack on the early morning of August 29, 2014.  He is survived by our Mother Barbara Schafer-Greer and our Father Ronald Greer, his daughter, Samantha Crandall and his son Brian M.A.D. Schafer.   Of course, he is also survived by me , his big brother and my wife Cindy.

Brian enjoyed life.

His passing came as a shock and a surprise to us all, for my baby brother Brian was invincible.  Brian loved life and took advantage of it every day.  In life he worked hard and played hard, and was a big hit with the ladies.  As a baby he cheated death because he was deemed a "blue baby" having experimental open heart surgery.   Just a few years back he survived a massive stroke that left his arm paralyzed and pulled through that. Recently he was losing weight so we had no reason to think the day of August 29th would be unlike any other. Our family called him "Superman."

Brian even went big on the dogs: he  had four dogs he loved, Abagail, Buford, Bryan and Chuckie.

Two Bros Making It Big

In the early days, we started Big Fat Daddy's together and Brian ran the pit beef stand on Route 40 and was responsible for our early publicity.  I still remember the old days of us building our stands together and found these great pictures to share.  We had a vision and we made it happen.

We had visions of how we wanted things to look.

Big Fat Daddy's early days
We spent our winters making stands to fit around the commercial foodservice equipment.
